Pierre-Philippe Cormeraie's journey: from the blogosphere to digital evangelism

Pierre-Philippe Cormeraie has followed an inspiring path: from insightful blogger to leading digital evangelist. A pioneer of social media since 2007, he has made technology a bridge rather than a barrier, in the service of inclusion and community empowerment.
"Digital tools should be accessible to everyone, whatever their technical level," says Pierre-Philippe Cormeraie.
His role as Chief Digital Evangelist at Groupe BPCE embodies this commitment: harnessing technology to foster digital literacy, forge meaningful connections and promote a collaborative digital culture.
Early adoption of social media
Cormeraie saw very early the potential of social platforms for communication and community building. Creating his influential Twitter account in 2007 marked a key milestone.
A pioneering role
He was one of the first to see social media as more than a tool for personal interaction: a powerful way to bridge the gaps between individuals and organisations. His approach was not only to broadcast, but to listen and respond, creating a dynamic and interactive space.
"Twitter became my preferred platform for sharing ideas and learning from others. It transformed the way I interact with the digital community," he confides.
From blogger to digital evangelist
His mission: to democratise technology. Digital tools should not be reserved for insiders. Through simple guides and tutorials, he has enabled many people to embrace the digital world.
"Technology must be an enabler, not a barrier. My goal is to make it simple and accessible for everyone."
His empowerment programmes rest on:
- hands-on training (learning by doing);
- open access to resources (e-books, video tutorials);
- community support (peer-to-peer networks).
The benefits are tangible: better employment opportunities for participants, and small businesses that learn to make the most of technology. A notable example: the Groupe BPCE open data portal, which makes non-sensitive public data accessible (tables, graphs, maps) for the benefit of analysts, journalists, researchers, teachers, students and start-ups.
"Data is the new oil. Making it accessible allows people and organisations to innovate and create value."
Engaging the community through podcasts
Cormeraie has also turned to the podcast, with "Data Managers", which showcases the data professionals of Groupe BPCE in compelling narratives, an intimate medium that allows in-depth, inspiring and educational conversations.
"Podcasts allow in-depth conversations that can inspire and educate."
His philosophy: authenticity as the foundation of meaningful engagement. His strategies for building connection: sharing personal stories, giving voice to diverse voices, and incorporating interactive elements (comments, participation) for a dialogue, not a monologue.
"Authenticity is not just a buzzword; it is the foundation of meaningful engagement."
His narrative approach bridges gaps, encourages dialogue and promotes an inclusive digital future, proof that the podcast is also a tool for community building and empowerment.
